Robotic Telescope Data 2019 - 2020

Robotic Telescope Data 2019 - 2020

Description

It’s finally here! Gain access to data from the RASC Robotic Telescope.

This year only, gain access to two years of data for the price of one!

Calling all astroimagers! Download over 30 targets’ worth of data, including comets, galaxies and nebulae. Create beautiful images using data from our 16-inch robotic telescope in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Each visible light target has 8 hours of exposure, and each narrowband target has 20 hours, so you can create perfectly crisp and detailed images.
Light frames for each target are available both calibrated and uncalibrated (calibration frames provided), and are in .fit file format. Please ensure you have a Google-enabled email address for access to the Google Drive folder. Within one business day of purchase, you will be added to the Google Drive and will gain access to all 2019 and 2020 data.
If you would like to give this data set as a gift, please contact telescope@rasc.ca immediately after purchase to indicate your intentions, and include the email address of the person you would like to gift the access to. We will discuss when to give them access, so that they do not find out about their gift before they should!

    The Details
    •  LRGB targets each have 8hrs of data each, while narrowband targets have 20hrs each.
    • The telescope is a 16” RCOS f/8.9  with an SBIG STX 16803 4K camera attached. It also has a Hutech-modified Canon 6D attached to the tube for wide-field imaging.
    • The telescope is located in the Sierra Nevadas in California. Skies are clear, calm and very dark, with much better weather than we get here in Canada.
    • Data is available raw with calibration files in .fits format. We encourage more advanced astroimagers to upload their own calibrated light frames to help out amateur astroimagers. Instructions on how to do this are available in the Google Drive.
    • You must have a Google-enabled email address to access the data. Instructions are available here.

If you live in a rural area and are unable to download large files, please contact telescope@rasc.ca for other alternative options.
